David Evans is currently the Emergency Director for UN-Habitat based in Nairobi, Kenya
David works on coordination issues around global emergencies as part of the IASC ‘Emergency Directors Group’ and has been a member of the IASC Global Shelter Cluster Strategic Advisory Group for a number of years.
He has more than 30 years shelter, housing and development experienced with the last 13 relating to emergency contexts. Including 11 years with Local Authorities, 10 years with NGOs and 14 years with UN agencies (OCHA and UN-Habitat).
Main field experience relates to coordination of humanitarian response and mobilization of durable, sustainable responses for people affected by crisis.
David’s post grad studies were at the London School of Economics (LSE) in the field Public Housing.
PhD research at the LSE in the field of housing and urbansiation focusing on Small Island States.
