Alison Hutchinson is the Senior Regional Registration Officer for the East- and Horn of Africa, based at the UNHCR Regional Service Centre in Nairobi. She has nearly two decades of operational experience with UNHCR through engagements with country operations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Alison’s primary portfolio covers the support of UNHCR’s identity management, registration and documentation activities for over 5.4 million refugees and asylum seekers in the East and Horn of Africa. She oversees and supports the strategic development and implementation of identity management, registration and documentation initiatives throughout the region. She promotes innovation and the pivotal role of building state capacity to contribute to the inclusion and empowerment of the population UNHCR serves.
Alison is an alumnus of the University of Wales Aberystwyth, where she studied Economics and Social Studies in Accounting, Finance and Law.
