Rodney Benn graduated in 1980, from the University of Cape Town, in Electronic Engineering, and very quickly moved on to Project Engineering and Programme Management, mostly in the Defence industry. He is the recipient of the Houwteq (Armscor) Chairman's Award for achievement in the project management of the design and construction and launch of a low earth orbiting satellite for South Africa. In 1990, Rodney completed a full-time MBA specialising in Marketing, Management of Technology as well as Company Strategy and International Finance. In 1999, Rodney joined PANAMSAT as Sales Director responsible for West African regional sales and marketing. In 2006, PANAMSAT merged with INTELSAT, forming the largest satellite operator in the world. Rodney was promoted to MANAGING SALES DIRECTOR in 2007, responsible for sales and market development of the region across a diversified portfolio of data, media and terrestrial solutions for over 120 corporate and government customers across Africa. Rodney is now a recognised industry specialist in satellite Data Networks and Pay-Tv platforms, digital convergence, multi-media and infotainment. Rodney Benn was recently appointed as Vice President - Institutional Key Accounts and English West Africa.
