Dr. Kathryn Tatzsch has over 15 years of strategic and operational humanitarian response and academic research experience in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East; with the Institute for Peace Research & Security Studies, with GIZ and World Vision, most recently she led World Vision’s scale up of the Lake Chad Basin Crisis Response in Niger and Chad, WV’s Global El Nino Task Force, the initiation of WVs humanitarian response operations in Northern Iraq, WV’s regional Ebola Response in West Africa. Leading research initiatives around public private partnerships for development impact, child rights and economic reintegration of ex-combatants as well as local solutions for displaced communities, Kathryn conceptualized and co-facilitated the establishment of the inter-agency Humanitarian Private Sector Partnership Platform (HPPP) for East Africa with UNOCHA, UNHCR, MasterCard, Equity Bank, and many other stakeholders in March 2016. This initiative has been showcased at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul – and promoted as part of the new UNOCHA, UNISDR, UNDP “Connecting Business Initiative” that aims to link regional cross-sector networks, and since then presented in panel discussions with UN and business stakeholders, for example at the recent ECHO’s Partners Conference in Brussels. She facilitated inter-agency side-meeting during the UNHCR Annual NGO consultation with UN and NGO stakeholders in Geneva as well as continued to promote Government, private sector, UN and NGO discussions coherent approaches to implementation that foster aid efficiency and effectiveness, utilizing technology based on criteria like interoperability, economic growth opportunities for disaster-prone and affected communities to engage in and benefit from multi-purpose cash transfer safety nets.
