Air Partner and Envirotainer worked closely to implement a process to organize charter aircraft shipments on a regular basis. The first shipment with Envirotainer’s RAP e2 container transported temperature sensitive medical supplies to Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Richard Smith, Director for Freight at Air Partner comments: “The humanitarian response is facing a massive task trying to tackle Ebola in West Africa. Air Partner has been working with a number of agencies to provide air charters in very challenging circumstances. We have successfully delivered several consignments already and with the temperature controlled unit from Envirotainer we can now implement delivery of much needed temperature sensitive medical supplies.”
Simon Angeldorff, CEO at Envirotainer comments: “We are pleased that we were able to respond quickly with Air Partner to the challenging situation. At Envirotainer, we understand what we do is important. It’s not always about shipping a container from A to B, but about being part of the higher purpose which is helping the patient.”
According to WHO, World Health Organization, the Ebola virus causes an acute, serious illness which is often fatal if untreated. The current outbreak in West Africa, (first cases notified in March 2014), is the largest and most complex Ebola outbreak since the Ebola virus was first discovered in 1976. It has spread between countries starting in Guinea then spreading across land borders to Sierra Leone.
Air Partner will continue the collaboration with Envirotainer and lease the RAP e2 containers as part of providing a vital flow of resources to the new British treatment centers to help contain, control and defeat Ebola in Sierra Leone.
Envirotainer will be participating at the Aid and Development Africa Summit 2017. For more information visit africa.aidforum.org
